Maria Medina is the friendly face that welcomes all visitors to the shelter.

Mara cares for each of the animals she rescues as if they were her own.

Mara began her work in 2012 and to this day she continues to strive to help the hundreds of dogs and cats that pass through her shelter, raising awareness among people on the island who abandon their pets due to a death, moved and couldn't take them with  them so they are put out on the streets to fend for themselves, have abused, neglected or just couldn't care properly for them any longer
